As an artist with a disability who is also a programmer, saying that AI is for disabled artists is very disrespectful. Additionally, I'm personally not afraid of tech. I'm afraid of bad and/or misunderstood tech. I'm not against the existence of AI. It's useful in many ways, but it should be used to augment human ability, not replace it. For example, one application of it that would actually be useful for artists would be optimized image searching for references based on what you've drawn and prompted. Or a tool for mapping perspective. Of course, these things aren't really needed, so they wouldn't bring that much benefit, which is why AI just isn't for art in my opinion. It's like with coding. If your effectiveness is determined by an AI model, you are not a real coder, but a tech bro. If you can't do something yourself, learn to. AI is not an excuse to be lazy, because once there are no more experienced artists, there will be nothing for the AI to train off of. The same goes with coding. If you replace every junior developer, there will be no senior developers. If you want AI to take over, you want AI to kill itself, and do a lot of collateral damage in the process. For AI to be useful to people, people need to be useful to AI. This is just how it works. If everyone is useless, so is the AI.
