the thing i've started thinking about in the past days is that, technically, there aren't that many people who are actual "Americans" Americans. Not trying to devalue the achievements of the nation that has built so much amazing stuff or, better yet, offend anyone, but it does seem worth thinking about, treating as a thought experiment, if yall would let me. that said, i personally see no issue in legal immigration: it is a complex process of several years proving one's dedication to the country they decide to invest their time into. in fact, i think it's even for the best of us to have a small part of society sailing places and sharing the aspects of culture, knowledge, and experience. i understand that people who came from an external culture require a long period of adaptation and it's their own responsibility to blend in, since it was their own decision, not the country's. but at the same time, maybe it is also important for us to have some level of compassion in order to stop being so furious about everything. my father taught me that a conflict is both sides' issue, and i find this perspective best as of the time i'm typing this. i've seen many people, especially dudes, crying because i said that i understand the hardships of being a man and growing in a society when everything seems to be against you. that one sentence was enough for them to reinvigorate from within, to an extent. why did i write all this? perhaps i just wanted to provide a yet another perspective on the importance of compassion. i remember life being way easier and "friendlier", and we probably should bring those vibes back, one step at a time. as for the corpos, best way to kill a business is stop using its products. not a call to action, but once i stopped ordering deliveries, and cancelled all of my streaming subscriptions - i've actually felt much better. i tried only buying necessary things (i.e. only had 2 pairs of sneakers since 2021), and from some point on it helped me notice how much unnecessary stuff i've been focusing on. probably not the best advice, but that could be a good tool to use if any of you guys want to take a step back and look at your own life. peace.
