Photography is an art form. Just like traditional art, digital art, sculpture, carving, music composition, film making animation and writing. I mean, heck, you can call GAME DEVELOPMENT an art form. And you know why? Because they share one thing in common. It’s created by a human (or multiple), hours of hard work were put into creating it, a soul was put into it. Yes people said that photography was going to replace traditional art but that’s far from the truth. Photography is very different from traditional art. It’s as if painting a portrait of a person and then making a sculpture of the same person and calling it the same thing. I’m personally talking a digital art course in high school right now and one of the two main topics is photography. And it’s hard. But you know what isn’t hard? Writing a prompt into a machine, letting it spit out an answer and posting it online and claiming it as ‘art’. Because it isn’t. There was human input (on, the prompt does not count). No creative process put into it. And certainly no soul. IT’S NOT ART!!! I’m ok for AI to be used as a tool like grammar correction, easy background removal, or telling you where the error in the code is BECAUSE YOU CANNOT FREAKING WHAT THE PROBLEM IS EVEN AFTER HOURS OF SEARCHING- but it should not be used to create ‘art’. Art should first be a hobby, then a job. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
