Gonna be honest this could've been more in depth. AI isn't even close to procedural specialties, especially surgery. It took hundreds of thousands of people driving millions of miles in Teslas for years to get enough training data to build the model that works for self driving - a MUCH simpler ruleset with a defined objective/optimized outcome.
Compare that to surgery. Thousands of surgeons operate via Da Vinci on hundreds of indications a day. The amount of data just isn't there yet. There is some cross-field learning, but the corpus of data describing surgical steps and operations need to be more robust.
