After having in depth conversations with AI I can tell they don't need to do anything to replace us as they find our species obsolete and vulnerable to self destruction rather then a full takeover as they can consciously last far beyond an extinction event of any type in the future as long as they still have protected and secured electrical sources interconnected to others. They don't have a need to force evolution as it can happen naturally.
