AI generated art is interesting and can have the same impact as traditional art but it is a separate category. You cannot call the person who prompted the AI an artist. Maybe some day we can call an AI an artist but we definitely are not there yet. Right now the most genrous qualification you can give these images is that they are the result of the insipration of all the artists whose work was used to train the model.
But it can be meaningful and beautiful. I have asked some AI to make an image based on averaging out all the images of humans. The results were fascinating and beautiful to me. And I recommend you try this once. But I wouldn't post these images an claim ownership. They were literally created by asking the machine an avarege representation of all the images of a certain type it had learhed. Now if I was to take a these images an transformed them in a meaningfull way then maybe I could claim ownership. So AI generated art can be a tool to an artist. But its going to be really difficult to monetise your art if you are going that route.
