No, I think the robot example (having a robot lift weights for you) is a really good description. You go to school (gym) and you get a robot (LLMs) to lift weights (do your assignments) for you. Because of this you gain no muscle (your brain does not think = it gets worse at thinking), and gain absolutely nothing. Of course, this is only for people who are using AI completely, but it's very tempting to use what we think is an all powerful tool to get rid of the chore in front of you. Some people see going to the gym as a chore, but they still lift weights because they have a goal, to gain muscle, or get that gym high. Unfortunately studying is a process a little bit different to going to the gym because our brains (which are the same as 10,000) years ago, like results that are nice and quick. Going to the gym gives a nice pump, and your body gets bigger, but being a student and learning takes a while for students to see the 'actual effect'. They see it more of as something their parents want them to do than something they do for themselves. I used to be like this too unfortunately, because I couldn't understand long term goals well enough in my brain yet. My main focus was that school was a chore that I just had to get through. As a university student, I found that using AI took away so much from my learning. Even people who use AI a little bit are having the robot help them lift the weight. They aren't gaining as much muscle "but there's not enough time for my assignment" then learn time management "but there's no point in doing this really annoying part" ok, then you can use ai, but you would learn more if you tried to automate it by yourself. No one is going to hire someone who relies on a tool that anyone can use. It's like hiring a 'tape expert' when you already have tape. If you read this comment to the end, I challenge you, try and stop using AI for 3 weeks and see how it changes you, how your imposter syndrome will dissapear, how you will feel like you are finally capable. How you are actually creative now and you don't need to rely on a chatbot that doesn't actually work very well for complex problems. Take it from someone who relied on AI for his university assignments and heavily regretted it.
