I really respect Hank for being one of the first big leftist creators actually talking to AI scientists about AI — not just recycling those outdated talking points from four years ago that have been empirically debunked. Stuff like “stochastic parrots,” “it’s just a program,” “interpretability isn’t an issue,” and all that — the kind of takes you’d expect from people who don’t really understand the math, science, or even the underlying philosophy and logic of this whole field. (Adam Conover and Vaush, I'm looking at you) And look, I’d never say people in the humanities are inferior — far from it. Scientists need the humanities to understand so many things including how to reason and address their biases. The value they bring is huge. But there are moments where a lack of grasp on core mathematical or scientific ideas leaves some people wildly uninformed about what’s actually happening in cutting-edge AI research. Then they end up spreading that misinformation to millions, all under the banner of being “anti-AI.” Being critical of AI is fine — in fact, it’s necessary — but it should come from understanding, not ignorance.
