For so much talk about exponential progress, it's somewhat ironic to see such low expectations for AI. We're probably not far off from AI being able to extrapolate and make accurate predictions, and at that point it could be just as creative as us, if not more. Our creativity is just mutations on past experience, we can only imagine within the confines of that experience. What we would need to do to stay ahead of AI indefinitely is akin to repeatedly imaging a new color that has never existed before.
