Under the data protection act of 2018 any person being photographed by facial recognition cameras can request for either a review or removal of their data from any police or other database, which cannot be retained beyond 30 days without the authority giving a good reason and if the authority does not comply with the act the matter can be taken up with the Information Commisioner and if necessary private legal action.
