China and the US are in a race to see who can do this first. The check book is open on both sides. 99% unemployment is realistic, but what these idle hands will do is anyone’s guess. Knowing human nature, I’m not too optimistic.
If we stay in a world of narrow A.I, the disparate standards of living will get worse. Narrow A.I is still in the mitts of greedy capitalists and dictators.
We are not in a simulation. We have billions of years of biology and evolution leading to now. It doesn’t matter how many copies you can generate from this moment.
