AI art is “just like an artist taking inspiration” to the same extent that me breaking into an art gallery, chowing down on the paintings, then throwing up on the floor is “just like an artist taking inspiration”. AI images are not the result of any kind of creative process, they’re just piles of regurgitated image data. They’ve only gotten close to resembling real art through a long process of being told which piles of vomit look the best.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery… that mediocrity can pay to greatness.
