Sounds like the most prudent thing governments and politicians should do is ban AGI and put severe restrictions on things like firing employees in favor of AI automation. Companies who do that do it at their own peril. Soon they will have no customers left. If enough people are unemployed and on the streets, get ready for riots and civil war.
