Great content, thanks for sharing, new subscriber. I have a few questions.
1. When I write a prompt, can I copyright that prompt? (Many prompts are more like prose, rather than a bulleted list of instructions)
2. If 1 is true, when I use my copyrighted prompt to create an image, can I then copyright the image as it was derived from my original copyrighted work?
3. If it's okay to use a camera to create work that can be copyrighted, then why not AI programs? When creating a prompt you are able to include similar elements, such as the type of shot: High-angle shot, Low-angle shot, Mid-shot, Closeup shot, etc. You are able to include the type of Lens: wide-angle, telephoto, macro. You are also able to control the lighting, and set the background, etc. In effect, doesn’t the prompt act as the film that captures my artistic vision, while the AI program functions as a digital darkroom, developing that vision into an image?
4. If I add more original text to my image, am I then able to copyright the image? If true, how much and what type of text? And how visible does the text have to be (can I dump the opacity of the text to 0? Technically it's still there)?
If copyright protects artistic vision, shouldn’t it also recognize those who can conceive powerful imagery, but lack the ability to create it manually?
