The biggest danger is not some super smart AI. It's already capable of being used to analyze all of the massive amounts of data being fed into the government surveillance programs and it essentially creates the all seeing eye of Sauron (being done by palantir btw). The other thing they are planning on doing is directly linking AI models to do automatic weapons targetting with drones. These don't require super intelligence and are extremely dangerous and they're already doing it.
