I remember when AI was just a super intelligent auto complete as a human wrote code. It was amazing. Writing a long line but it would fill it in. Forgot something, write a comment explaining it and the AI would write a line or two to do it. Write a docstring and it'll write the function, or vice versa let it write the docstring for your function. Genuine productivity booster.
But full agentic code has gone too far. The structure and slop is out of control, no longer is a human directing it or reviewing every change in real time. We have a dashboard at work I "coded" (we are told to use Curosr) and it's so brittle, any little change or edge case and it breaks, takes several prompts to fix. God knows how many issues it has vs if they hired an actual frontend/UI engineer. But me + Cursor is cheaper so here we are. Sad stuff
