So I have gone at ai with the mindset that it can be art but only under certain circumstances. What I mean by that is that creative prompt engineering to get chat gpt or the like to act in a certain way (which often is hundreds of lines of prompts) is art in a similar way that video games are art but just typing in your homework’s questions isn’t. And i think (but have honestly never tried) similar ways of thinking about it could be applied to an image or video generator. Edit: now that I think about it yes a similar way of thinking can be applied. For example deepfakes are created using AI but the actor still ultimately preformed what happens in a video. Or another example if You type in give me the wonderland rabbit that isn’t art but if discribe every detail of a picture in your mind so precisely that you or I could see it very clearly in our minds when reading it, and then you put that into the AI that is then art. And no it is not just the description but the resulting image that is the art.
