I think your "AI is just financed by VC wet dreams" and it will collapse when the seed money runs out... is far from true. Lots of text-based jobs like report-writing and translation of business documents; non-critical software coding; and image generation for advertisements: These will flourish. Earlier today I was wondering whether there's an actual difference between a satirical cartoonist making a quick rough pen drawing, and one using AI (a la Beeple); most of such political cartoons are technically terrible, mentally lazy, and preaching to the choir. [EDIT: And then I thought of 'artist' Thomas Kinkade, who has this Midjourney-esque look to all the slop he/his studio produced, so I needed a lie-down.] Of course the bottom 95% of everything is trash, and in AI it's more like the bottom 99.5%... Like you I don't see or can't imagine any artistic use of it si far; so I think you/we may be right on that --- however, I'm reminded of Robert Ebert who maintained computer games would never be art, but agreed before his death that he was wrong; that it was a novel storytelling medium where it took a few decades before any outcomes could be called art. So I can imagine being eventually wrong on this.
