Can it lie? No.
Can it be programmed with deception? Yes.
Is it flawed? Yes.
Can it provide fact, truth, plausible information? Yes.
It's a tool that people want to make human-like.
You can also lie, and unlike AI, can have a conscious desire and drive to lie, without necessarily being influenced by another human to do so.
This doesn't mean the AI cannot be useful, but it is a reminder that it's the humans flaw that proceeds the AI. Hopefully that flaw does not get more potent.
