The more you think about it the more you realize that consciousness/a soul is something only god can give to beings. However we have no way of knowing whether god will also give consciousness/soul to AIs we build once they are complex enough.
If god gives consciousness to every being that has a complex enough biological brain, how do we know if god gives consciousness to a machine "brain" as well?
Maybe we have no way of really knowing. But this will also bring up ethical questions in the future whether it is still moral to "kill" or harm an advanced AI if there is a possibility that it could have a soul/consciousness.
