Wow the incredible ignorance going on here. Ai isn’t art. It’s just imagery. art is an organic process that utilises a combination of human thought and skill based physical activity via the application of various mediums (paint, clay, wood, words, etc…) to express an idea or emotion in response to the world around us. It is an exclusively human act. Artists dedicate themselves to study and practice to develop an often incredible level of skill that serves as testament to the profound nature of the human condition. It takes no skill to write a prompt and requires little effort, if you can write a sentence you can master Ai. It’s like the difference between a freshly baked artisan loaf and processed supermarket bread, a finely carved filigree by a master stone mason and a breeze block, a vintage merlot and Mountain Dew. One takes a delicate balance of skill, patience and refinement the other is a heavily processed turd. Ai is pointless as reference because all the reference any artist needs already exists i.e real life and photos. These imitations were not ‘inspired’ by the image they were instigated by it, to mock and protest the lack of integrity and talent, and the audacity to profit from mediocre fakery. An insult to real artists. Ai should be used to do all the mundane 9-5 bullshit so that we can live our lives freely and creatively, not enable witless, lazy charlatans to make a quick buck from the passionate efforts of others.
