AI can write software only if there is other similar software online from where it can learn ans when the software is relatively simple. When the required software is complex and novel, AI becomes very disappointing in fact. If AI was good at creating big complex programs, companies providing things such as physic and engineering simulation software would dissapear. Sure, companies creating webpages will soon dissapear due to AI, but complex stuff, I doubt it. Ask AI to write a computational fluid dynammics software with good pre and post processors and you will see what I mean.
