I'm still on the fence about whether AI taking over is going to be positive or not, but one thing that has gotten me fired up around this topic is the costs related to the creation of the data centers all around the country that the billionaires are building. These facilities are a huge drain on the local water supply for those nearest to them, and they cause the prices of electricity to increase for everyone else within that power grid territory. These are already being built everywhere and it happened so fast.
They're building one near me and we didn't even hear about it until the announcement that the deal was done to give them the county land for the project. They want these to go up quick and unregulated, and they're getting away with it.
And the worst part is that these large companies have trained their models on OUR DATA. Every comment, every picture, every video. Copyright be damned. And we're just okay allowing that with asking nothing in return apparently? We then offer them our prime land and resources to further grow this amazing new machine humanity has developed called AI...we need to start talking regulation ideas yesterday.
