The good thing is that computers will take the most efficient solution possible if you ask it to solve a problem. The bad thing is that the computer will take the most efficient solution possible if you ask it to solve a problem. The end result will be justified by the means it was programmed with. If it needs to stay on to solve that problem, it may try and find a way not to power down if it's programmed to know that concept
