We as a country need to stop focusing on these "standardized" tests. They were standardized decades ago and are no longer relevant to modern learning. You all need to interview some people who are not on the "technology bad" team. Find some other education experts to explain why it's not JUST the fault of Google or other tech companies. I'm in no way defending Google or big tech, and certainly not AI. I'm very much against AI in schools outside of college. We need to shift the focus away from blaming technology and focus on the real problem. We've added more and more of these tests in the last few decades, and none of them take into account the way learning and thinking have changed in that time. Of course test scores are falling, but I think it has a lot more to do with a lack of good teachers, lack of student interest in school, and most importantly, the belief that these tests are actually a good indicator of education. If someone who understood the technology better was in charge of updating these tests to fit modern times, I think the scores would sky rocket. How many parents could pass these standardized tests? If you teach on a computer, why would you not test on one? I'm aware that some state level tests may be administered this way, but I'm pretty sure the national ones are not. These tests rely a lot on memorization, but most people today don't memorize things. That's not just a kid thing, it's a people thing, because we can take notes any time with our phones. I also think more and more kids have test anxiety, along with their general anxiety. Yet no one has bothered to study that aspect of the falling scores.
