These are great points. My fav points are the ones about people WANTING to contribute. People don't want to sit at home and collect their "basic minimum income". They want to make good things happen in the community. As much as I agree that workers should be adequately cared for, I don't feel that making them more of a burden for their employers (higher pay for fewer hours) is a good long-term strategy. What I WOULD like to see is a greater emphasis on improving employee productivity through AI training. If you've used AI tools, you know that you don't need a computer science degree to get very solid results. You also know that AI is not just for the wealthy, it's accessible to everyone, and nearly free. Another thought is greater incentives for entrepreneurship. We have to change our mindset that we're all going to come out of school and become a career employee for BigCo, who will take care of us till we die. That was a reasonable expectation during the industrial revolution, but NOT the digital revolution. There are terrifying potential outcomes no question, but also tons of opportunities. Being the victim, even we you are DEAD RIGHT, is still very disempowering. Sure, "the government" or "multi-billion dollar corporations" should do the right thing, but while we're waiting patiently for that day, we can take advantage of the new AI tools that can empower us all. And if anyone knows how I can "automate" fixing my plumbing, installing electrical circuits, or most anything construction-related, please let me know. I'm still paying contractors as I always have, and I don't see that changing any time soon. :)
