Joblessness may spike initially, but it is also possible AI opens enough doors to new industries/technologies and accelerates our growth so fast that the number of new businesses spikes exponentially creating more new jobs than we can fill. There may be several generations of people who chose one career path and only worked it for a few years before having to turn on a dime and doing something entirely different in an industry that didn't even exist when they were in school. The world is going to change so fast that we can't keep up with it (we are already to this point). Some new skills you obtain will become obsolete in a few short years. Part of future careers may have to include lifelong learning and skills development far more than it already does, where we are all permanent students for life just desperately trying to stay current and relevant.
