Facebook is a demonstration of surveillance capitalism. It is a that database of personal data, in pictures, sounds and arranged text that can be used by predators looking to search for usable prey. Upon it's stock debut, it;s price was bloated to guarantee it's success by those who saw the need for such easy to access data. As soon as it is gone, new, more demanding programs will fill the vacuum. Under the table, it is already state controlled.
