The argument holds strength for AI derived output that are one shot prompted. I think the argument looses momentum when you consider there are people using AI tools in an iterative process to recreate what is in their imaginations. It’s takes effort to get away from the generic output. These people use the tools to augment/amplify their skills. These people argument then shifts to whether a model was ethically trained. If output is generated from ethically trained models where the contributors give consent or license, then the output of the AI tools is ethical. The final argument is then the resource intensity of AI tools and its impact on humanity and our biosphere. That’s a hard problem to solve but not insurmountable. They are all hard to solve but none are insurmountable problems.
