This is a really good and important video, though I feel like it definitely undersells the importance and danger of AI based facial recognition in China:
Yes, they don't give or take away points in real time based on behavior, but the AI system is quite widespread and police has demonstrated in the past that it can flag wanted or blacklisted people from a crowd of thousands of people in minutes and let them follow their movement.
And for a system that, as you mentioned, is often quite inaccurate in tracking and distributing bans, blacklisting and wanted reports, possibly with political backing behind it, this is indeed very dangerous.
Plus the video doesn't really touch on the online censorship china experiences, which I feel definitely contributes to the dystopian feel the system gives, but that would probably be a separate topic
