So I'm a fairly disabled artist, spend most of my time fighting to not have to be in my wheelchair, and when AI came out I was absolutely interested in it before I found out how it learned and where it got its sources. I had to find a way to pay money for a subscription to use it, and more than that it was *mind numbing*. There was no actual... enjoyment of it. AI is NOT helping people who didn't have access to art before learn to do it now. If anything, it's keeping them from learning it. You don't look at things artistically because of it. It's similar to how food seemed to shift when fast food came about. The quick, extremely unhealthy options were faster and less effort, so eventually people didn't eat as many home cooked options. But, they're not good for you, and they tend to make things worse for you. Art was a way that I, as a disabled person, could express myself in the limited ways that I could. I can't run, I can't climb mountains like I've always wanted, but I can *draw* myself doing that. I can show my wants, my desires. I can hand carve that piece by piece with my own effort. I feel that art is something that needs to be harder, needs to strain you, especially for disabled people, because it's something we can feel real success in.
