So how do you square this with the recent crash in the value of Software companies in the stock market ? The threat to developers is not that AI will generate the code they currently write but that AI will make the code they write less valuable. Code and applications will become disposable. We might even see a return of the old days when industrial companies had IT departments that produced the applications the companies used in their own operations rather than buying large application suites from companies like Oracle and SAP. Maybe IT will largely disappear with operating departments becoming responsible for their own software needs and support with the help of inhouse subject domain experts and AI agents.
I keep hearing stories like this one but also watch many more videos on how AI code assistants are working in the real world to do exactly what this video says is not happening.
It's probably too early to tell.
