I worked at a call centre straight out of high school. We collected on unpaid fines and traffic tickets. I didn’t last a year. It was _horrendous_ for my mental health. The pay was great but I realized I didn’t have the emotional fortitude to spend all day getting yelled at and insulted. Most people were actually understanding (I’m in Canada and apparently we’re known for being polite?) but those who weren’t made the job hell. I’m not sure AI is going to make a big difference, though. The job will still suck, it’ll just suck less.
