Great factual response to the AI doomers and snake oil salesmen, who are 2 sides of the same coin at this point. For further reading I'd recommend the work of research economist Daron Acemoglu, who calculates that AI impacts will be nontrivial but highly concentrated in specific areas and tasks. We are starting to see this already in sectors like finance and healthcare, where in both cases AI has automated rote tasks so that the humans in those roles can focus on other work. Anyone who thinks a junior banker will become obsolete once they're no longer needed to create PowerPoint presentations is sorely mistaken -they will be assigned even more complicated work which will further contribute to the bank's productivity. This is how technology has historically functioned in the economy, where efficiency gains did not translate to widespread job loss.
