The rosy picture presented in this video is "nuts". AI is going to be devastating to the people who work in manufacturing, moving physical objects, communication and data management. And a very significant percentage of people work in those fields. The person who said radiologists won't be needed anymore was not wrong. He was just wrong on the timeline. Sure, more volume of work for radiologists has occurred because more tests are being done. So what? It's only a matter of time, no matter how many tests are being done, that the number of radiologists needed will be dropping. As AI gets better and better it will outperform the radiologists on a higher and higher percentage of accurately analyzing the results. And then we will only need 80% of the radiologists, then 60%, then 40%, then 20%. The last 10% to 20% might hold on for quite a while managing the AI, doing quality checks, or reviewing tests that AI kicked out to review because it was unsure of the correct answer. Bottom line is that 80% to 90% or more are going to lose their jobs. And the radiologists will survive longer than most other data management people. I create data management and reporting systems for a living. Of the hundreds of people that manage data at the company I work for; I am in the top handful of people in skill and knowledge. No one at my company can do everything I can do. Because of the custom company specific data systems we have, I am the only person in the entire world that has the knowledge and ability to do everything I do. And yet I see the handwriting on the wall for ME being replaced by AI. I don't know if it will be 10 years or maybe 15 years before AI can do 90% or more of what I do, but it will come. And of course, AI will better, faster and cheaper than me. I might get to hang on to a job for the rest of my career because I'm already at the very high end in skill and competency and ability to level up among the people that are handling data. But the bottom 70% to 80% of people managing data; they are going to lose their jobs. AI is going to be devastating!
