The main thing I noticed when watching this video, I don't know if this is a thing other people I've noticed or if I'm just being stupid, but it didn't strike me until Asmon told artists "go be plumbers..." This is just an extension of the conservative dismissal of imagination. How many times have people been told by somebody to not focus on drawing but build a table? How many times of people said that you shouldn't focus on video games? You should focus on sports or getting a girlfriend? It's not a coincidence that a lot of AI art stans lean or are conservatives broadly. To them, AI art is just a tool with which they can try and fail to emotionally beat imagination out of people. As if at some point AI wouldn't also know how to do plumbing or carpentry or welding or any of those "manly" jobs that people "should" be doing. We should dismiss AI artists, not because they are trying to take away peoples love of art, but because it's quite clear, none of them had any love for it in the first place. Getting an AI artist to accept genuine art is a bit like convincing a homophobic parent to love their gay child. It's too ingrained, it won't happen. We shouldn't give these people the time of day really, we should let them drown in their own bubble. If what they say is true, AI will eventually come for them too
