Looked for the Dune comments but couldn't find any. After destroying all thinking machines during the Butlerian Jihad, humanity focused on developing and harnessing the full abilities of the human brain / body. Interesting concept. Instead of pouring resources into R&D for tech / AI we focused on improving the human body.
