The only reason I am where I am is because when I was younger and made drawings for my art classes in school or at home, I wasn’t discouraged from continuing to learn. Even when people told me I wasn’t that good, I didn’t let that stop me. I’m still in high school, and I am definitely not the best artist, but I keep on going because I am passionate about the thing that I love. I can’t promise many things about my future, but if there’s one thing I know it’s that I’m going to keep on learning and spending days and nights making things from the craft that I love so much. I have met many people who didn’t start making art until they were adults, and they have put in so much time and effort into getting to the point that they are at. Using AI to ‘make art’ not only takes away the entire point of being an artist, but also effects and hurts artists. It plagiarizes our work and our passions, the pieces of work that we spent so many hours working on to even get to the point where someone felt proud enough to post it. To anybody who thinks that artists were born with talent or that only a select few are born with the abilities to make art, I’m sorry you grew up being discouraged from being an artist. Sometimes, I know people don’t even show interest in art until they get older, and they want to learn. It is NEVER too late to start. You do not need crazy expensive art supplies or have to go shopping at art stores, all you need is a pencil and some paper, not even just that, to make art. You also don’t need to only make art for practice and serious things, for all you know hypothetically, and I mean hypothetically, I could have been drawing byler fanart and gay romances for about 4 hours straight last night while going through a box of candy canes and a bag of shredded cheese with the posture of a shrimp and burning eyes because I haven’t blinked in about 5 minutes. Remember, hypothetically, totally not because that’s what I actually did last night instead of sleeping… *ahem* Trust me when I say that it is so much more worth it to fail over and over until you finally get to where you want to be or to make what you want to make vs. typing in a sentence and getting an image made of something that doesn’t even belong to you. The only thing that is done by you when it comes to AI is deciding how you want to use other people’s art to shape something ‘better’ or ‘just as good’. AI hurts artists and discourages others from becoming artists for an ‘easier way’, and yeah, making art is hard sometimes, but to really get good at something, you need to face those challenges and overcome them. It’s the same with playing sports, or learning how to play an instrument. That is how things should be, and that is the only way you will ever really feel true satisfaction or pride. Anyways, sorry for the long comment, I kinda needed to get that out. Now I’m going to go and draw fictional characters for an ungodly amount of time and rewatch Stranger Things because it’s so freaking fun to binge and sketchbook at the same time ;)
