People discuss the 'AI bubble' as if the only monumental risk posed by AI is job loss. IT'S NOT!! Let me list the major imminent ones: 1. AI psychosis 2. non-consensual nsfw image generation of real people (this will cause irreparable repetitional damage). 3. AI impersonation and identity theft - image generation tools are already way better than people think (nano banana, stable diffusion, wan 2.2, mid journey) and it is only going to get better and better 4. AI powered hacks and data breaches (already begun) - an agentic AI hacker with a knowledge base of all the best books, tutorials, articles, literature and teachings on ai (which will be able synthesise and utilise all that data more efficiently than any human on earth) can pose global risks to banks, power grids, social media, an all sensitive data storage points in the world, including your phones. 5. Indistinguishable misinformation used socially, politically and in the corporate sector - this could cause societal unrest, riots, or even wars 6. LEGAL EVIDENCE DISCREDITATION: when AI generated images and videos become as realistic as reality, all visual evidence used in courts will become absolutely useless. Seeing will not equal believing anymore. Innocent people will be jailed and criminals will be set free 7. Reality shift. In 2-3 years we will not know if any content we see online is real or fake. People will lose touch with reality and be stuck in online echo chambers that reinforce their most radical ideas, powered by incredibly precise hyper-personalised dopamine loops, inescapable to most (especially the younger generation) , and could keep you trapped in an artificial world, looking at curated artificial content of which every video idea, video style, video length, video subjects, video location, etc. will exist due to generative AI. 8. Widespread adoption and use of AI companions - they will know your personality, linguistic tells, behavioural patterns, personal information, goals and ambitions, thoughts, wants and needs, on a deeper level than any other human ever could. People will form incredibly strong bonds with these digital entities, which will influence every aspect of your behaviour and identity. These connections may even become romantic for certain people, replacing the loneliness they feel from societal neglect. This will replace intimacy and provide the most effective basis for manipulation (and even product advertisement) the world has ever seen. Eventually, These personalities may even be localised to each device you own, so your laptop, phone, and even your car have different personalities that you can interact with, replacing human connection as a whole. 9. AI generated video games that look 100% realistic, essentially providing a platform for people to enact their darkest and most depraved fantasies (or merely curiosities) in a world that is visually indistinguishable from our own. This is exacerbated by rapidly advancing VR technology. The effect that this will have on the minds of the users, and the extreme desensitisation that will occur, will be colossal and irreversible. These games will also have adaptive, intelligent storylines and reward systems specifically curated to keep you HOOKED. It will know human psychology better than any psychologist and adapt to individuals personally to reach its goal. 10. Complete dependence of students on AI: most college students are already offloading most of their cognitive load to AI, which words 100x times faster than humans, essentially turning students into quality checkers instead of independent authors. This will produce an entire generation of workers that are completely corporately illiterate. This has already begun and is already a phenomenally under-discussed issue. Entry level coders already rely completely an ChaGPT/copilot or other advanced alternatives. The marvel of 'vibe-coding' will have its counterparts in other major industries. Studies already show the effects of AI on students academically. What do you think will happen when it becomes even better than the professors? 11. AI replacing human creativity, art and entertainment. There is so much to be said here that I might as well not even explain. I will just give examples: - Filmmaking: go to 'aivideo' on reddit and scroll for long enough, or search 'AI 4k trailer on YouTube' - Songwriting and Music: The Velvet Sundown - Graphic design and illustration: I don't even need to give an example - Voiceover work - Storyboarding - Website creation - Concept art - Social media marketing and post design Let me note though: not all consequences of AI will be negative. There is still hope. AI tools can and will be used by good actors to prevention malicious attacks and protect the population. Huge benefits will come right alongside the pitfalls. But we should all be aware and prepare ourselves for what's coming. Change like this has never been experienced by any other generation. It's our duty to remain optimistic and do all that we can to keep each other safe.
