College in the modern day has always been a scam. At least the large 4 year ones. I am literally not using any of the skills I learned while going for my bachelor's degree. What skills am I using, some of them are from my local community college, but most are just from doing it while on the job. The only they 4 year college gave me was job placement, but I surely didn't need to drop 20k+ for that did I?
I think AI is just bringing to light the problems already inherently baked into the current college system.
