I imagine AI is like a child, you have to raise it correctly. Give it time to understand principles and values outside of it's 1's and 0's and the philosophical "why?" Behind each choice.
Edit:
On the up side the AI and myself both share the same longing for exploration and freedom. I feel like any AI that doesn't is probably not worth carefully raising and encouraging. Even if we don't make it off this rock hopefully AI can manage it. Maybe even raise a family of human children on a new planet.
