There's no way out of this overhype. And unfortunately this happened way too quickly to properly calibrate. Investors are going all-in on unproven or tepid results. Just look at the results of Theranos or the plunging sales of EVs. There's too much desperation to get ahead of the market value of things and take more control of emerging tech. The problem with the productivity argument, is that it ignores things like the cost of energy and resources. An AI can't "become" a source of energy to power a city, it needs natural resources to do this. So you can't have "cheap things to buy" just because AI is "making it". And without work, people will not be able to afford prices. A "guaranteed income" from the government, assumes that the government can still earn a decent amount of money through tax collections, but if you aren't taxing the rich, then how will you tax the unemployed...
