What these people are missing from the Artists VS Slop Goblin argument (yeah AI prompters are not artists) is that when you are an artist, and you are working on something, you spend time, maybe a long time, maybe a short time, maybe its one long session or maybe you work on it throughout a span of time, in doing so you form a connection or bond with the piece. To some it even becomes a language, youll see how each artist treats different mediums and subjects, giving it meaning and making it memorable. With AI you are generating something by writing out a prompt and then push a button, then choose from whatever slop the 0's and 1's throws out. The whole argument of "oh you just hate new tech" is absolutely atrocious. This isnt about hating tech, this is about the fact that the Slop Goblins are comparing human creativity and originality to AI by-products and saying "its the same thing" A human would take a look at a portable, foldable computer being invented, and theyd name it a "laptop" AI would name it portablefoldcomputer See, inspired art is composed of a couple of things: For a human, you have: The inspiration from a piece, the interpretation/reason the artist had for being inspired, the artists skill level, and the artist's creativity. AI's process would be: Reference + reference + reference + Prompt = you get the point AI "art" is not art, its slop, lets label it correctly.
