If AI did all our thinking and learning for us, life would end for humankind. Think about this. The learned among us tend to be super specialized these days, unlike the Renaissance Man who knew a bit of everything. Knowledge changes how you see the world, but what is knowledge? Knowledge is not just information, because knowledge is conscious. It is integrated information, which implies that you can become so specialized that you are actually not very knowledgeable, because you need to integrate one kind of information with another to turn it into deeper knowledge. It changes how you see the world, and enriches your life. Science can get so abstract that you may struggle to relate it to everyday life and the world that you experience with your five senses. Until we can relate our information to life and our own place in the world, we are not knowledgeable, and without knowledge, we cannot exist (as beings with souls). That is not to say that knowledge is the most foundational element (meaningful relations are at least as important, and empathy enriches life too), nor that everyone should be a Michel Angelo, but it is to say that effective education plays a key role with the potential to elevate life.
