This is a popular topic but I don't believe AI will take over all jobs. It will take over some jobs, and it will make a lot of jobs easier, but in the end, most jobs are not so easy replaceble.
I work in IT, and in the first year, I was really impressed with AI writing code. But it seems to get worse at it somehow. I guess this is because his training material is growing very fast, and that means a lot of bad code gets mixed in with the good code. Also, a random library can have 30 different versions which are in use somewhere right now. Quite a lot of times I had the AI suggest snippets of code which just wouldn't compile, because they were from a different version than our project was using. And end users want to know that their AI-written code is going to work fine. You could do that by writing a lot of tests, but then you still need a human, because you can not use an AI to verify an AI's code.
Probably a lot of companies are not going to realize this and this will lead to a big mess of bug ridden code. A good quote I heard: AI is not going to take over your job. But a developer making good use of AI will take over the job of one who doesn't.
AI is also still vulnerable to having its safeguards bypassed. For example, people made ChatGPT give the recipe for illegal substances if you told it to write it in the form of a poem, make a program that outputs the recipe, etc. If they will use AI in fast food to take orders, I'm curious to see how fast people will find some way to make the AI eager to give away food for free.
