my support switches depending on the position the person is taking when defending "AI Art". To keep this as short as possible, for me the relevant priors are Capitalism and Free Will. I don't support any corporation using "AI Art" as a means to short change or steal the stylings of any artist. I can see an artist training a model on their own style and extending that model's capabilities to make their job easier but because under capitalism they are in competition with other artists that make a living this way, I don't support the idea of them using stolen art styles to make that money. On the other hand, I agree with Robert Sapolsky entirely. There is no such thing as free will, consciousness is an epiphenomenon. So for personal use, perhaps even for small projects that don't stand a chance at making enough money to pay any artist for the level of work you're looking for? Sure. I don't care if someone was or wasn't born with an interest in art. The interest, the drive or lack thereof to put the time in and perfect it, these are not choices anyone has made or factors anyone has control over. Also, I doubt someone told that person they would never be able to make art, it's far more likely they've been trying for years and haven't made much improvement for a verity of deeply complex reasons.
