"A.I. is inevitable" No, definitely not. No one has to adopt anything—just have respect for them... This is part of the problem: we keep having people like this trying to convince us that it's so revolutionary that we have no choice but to put it everywhere in our lives regardless of what we say, what we value and what we want, especially if we are to earn anything or have much attention at all drawn to what we make. Not only is that wrong, it's dystopian. People whine of hiding the fact that they've used "A.I." and pretend to be sharing the same values artists have, while artists have to hide their work to avoid having people use it to optimize the tech, then artists get blamed for restricting access to information in the digital era. Seriously, get real. When you won't give them what they want, they try to take it by force, only to claim that you played no part in what an algorithm generated. This isn't me trying to own information – I am pointing out how some uses of technology are fundamentally dehumanizing because of how they reduce intent by blurring the line between humans and machines and make us out to be less than apprehenders of meaning—but people never respect this. All they see is greed and whatever else they accuse artists of—AND FOR WHAT? Artists wanting to keep things they created to themselves because they get treated like products? Wanting to earn money like anyone else? How ungrateful, hypocritical and shameless can a person be?! Two things for someone like this: 1. YOU DON'T OWN THE THINGS THEY MADE. 2. PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS OR MAKE ART YOURSELF WITHOUT EARNING A CENT FROM IT AND LEAVE OTHERS BE. We're way past the point of making an ethical "A.I.", and having someone using it be offensive is part of the consequences, regardless of what use they find to be enjoyable, as it also means they would sacrifice their own opportunities to become better while they keep supporting corporations using them to take control of the art field as if being an artist was a privilege they need to win rather than something to work for. As it turns out, people can't have their cake and also eat it ...so to make it a matter of finding ways to make it useful in art is nothing less of not acknowledging why it's offensive or, if you do acknowledge it, simply not caring... Even artists can make the wrongful assumption that automation is reflective of human intent. Yet, we didn’t usually raise an eyebrow whenever we used computers because we have knowledge of what most people are doing with digital programs, with more limited levels of automation compared to accelerated algorithms. But once again, we are left to our own devices to figure out what is automated, without any moral guardrails in place specially designed for accelerated algorithms, no less. "Oh, you just want "A.I." to be gone" No – just stop. Anyone out there, stop putting words in our mouths and pretending that we are the unintelligent ones in this situation. You are absolutely despicable.
