What people don't understand is that yes, most people are using it to make cool art from a single text prompt, but there's traditional digital artists using it to make compositions where they've controlled most of the intricate details using inpainting, masking, and blending. For example, they start with a ship in a port, then change it to a pirate ship, then add each pirate in certain locations on the ship, then decide one should have a parrot on his shoulder, then change the color of the parrot etc. They start with a generated images but generate so many fine details that the end result is something mostly from the artist's brain. I watched a digital artist use AI to make an ad for an MMO and it was like a 5 hour timelapse. Whether this guy put a similar amount of effort in or if he just used the results of a text prompt verbatim is unclear.
