On the subject of the "Accessibility" of art. Im going to be entirely honest, and real here. People who argue that its "inaccessible" just don't want to go through the long and arduous process of actually learning how to draw and do art to a level of quality close enough to what an "AI" would do. In the eyes of the tech dudes, its the same thing, they must hold themselves to a high standard, and the fact they spent most of their lives drawing stick figures and never moving past that results in poor quality art. To these people, accessibility is "how easy it is for me to get art." Not "How economically viable is this compared to this?" How much does it cost for me to pay an artist, vs, how much does it cost for me to type some nonsense into Dal-E and get a result? I am a writer, that really does not want to go through the long and arduous process of learning how to draw and do art to a level of quality that would be equivalent to the stuff you see in Lit RPG and other art-based works, but I still want to make works that look or feel like that. Or if I make an item for an RPG I am working on, I want players to be able to see that item, or something akin to it. But I can't provide them with my garbage quality doodles because nobody would be able to see what I see in them, it would be like trying to read bad handwriting. Now what would I do in this situation? What I have found in my travels of the web, especially around World Anvil, is that most of us writers wot are bad at art, use AI generated work as placeholder images until we can pay an actual artist to do the actual art. It's not a replacement by any means, but something to remind us ten years down the line "Ohhh yeah, that's what that's supposed to look like." And to remind us what things still need artists to start working on. Whenever I use AI art, I use it not as a replacement for the artist, but as a placeholder that I don't need to attribute to anyone in particular, until an actual artist I paid comes around to make something I can attribute to specifically them, and pay them for their work.
