AI and automation is completely unavoidable (barring an exceptionally small chance it gets restricted), so we really need to be looking at economic models that could best serve the countries people as fairly and equitably as possible to ensure the increased production benefits the entire nation.
Besides, as more and and more then eventually everything, is automated while very few people have an income, because every job is automated, who is going to be paying to purchase the now increased and cheaper output of products and services the AI and automation offers? Maybe I've too positive an outlook, but if we did have a serious national / international (I'm an Australian) conversation about AI and automation with genuine goals and discussion, we could have an economic spiral upward for nearly everyone.
